Stories about Dental Tourist

Stories

When I made the decision to have dental implant (superweiss.com) as a dental tourist in a surgery. I was concerned because I didn’t like visiting the dentist, the pain was a concern and the fact I knew little about what was involved in the surgery was also quite worrying. I researched into dental implants before my surgery, but decided that it would be helpful to write an account of what actually happened before, during and after surgery.

Many privately run dental practices specialise in dental implants, I searched all of the market looking at reviews and comments on dentists, and collating prices together before deciding to have my dental work done as a dental tourist. I wanted to know from start to finish exactly what would happen. Firstly I found out what a dental implant was, this is basically a titanium screw which is used as a root and is placed surgically in the jaw bone. The screw then fuses with the jaw bone – this takes a few weeks, during this period of time the patient is usually asked to wear temporary teeth until the permanent ones can be put in. It gives the patient an idea of what the teeth will look like when the surgery is finished.

The procedure is quite a lengthy process and if you are having many dental implants you can expect to spend a lot of time in the dentists chair, the preparation for having the implants is possibly the most time consuming part, and this is the bit when you need to think about what type of pain relief may be useful to you. Most dentists offering this sort of implant surgery do offer state of the art technology to administer the pain relief. As all patients have different pain thresh holds this should be discussed thoroughly with the dentist before hand to make sure that you are getting the best pain relief for you, and make sure you ask about aftercare.

When the root has finally fused with the jaw bone and your permanent teeth are ready you will be asked to go back for one final sitting, it is after this sitting that you get to see your finished implants. The finished result is wonderful, gone are my old tea stained slightly wonky teeth, I now have the perfect smile.

For me it was the biggest confidence boost I could have got, before I had my dental implants I used to shy away from smiling, and cover my mouth every time I laughed or smiled. After surgery I have found that I smile with every opportunity given, and it has made me a much more confident person in general. I would fully recommend dental implant surgery to anyone who may be thinking of having it.
